The Things that live in it..

Fish. Snails. Tadpoles.
The Dog..

After the excitement of having an expanse of water appear, where you can see the sky and the ripples over pristine white concrete, and then brown concrete as the water goes cloudy.. you start planting little plants here and there, on slopes of raw earth. Very little plants. But not for long..
A couple of years later you see the flowers growing tall, Irises that just sat there for ages suddenly become big flashes of colour and the insects get bigger too. Dragonflies and butterflies are attracted to it. Plant some swan plants around the pond for the buttterflies.

And in the water, lots of little things are swimming; and the floating waterlillies in summer.. their leaves with water droplets shimmering in the sun, convey a feeling of hot sunny day and cool water at the same time..

A pond is a treasure

Now, if you haven't yet built your pond, it's a bit premature to be thinking of fish, so until I write this I'll just post a few photos I've recently taken with my digital camera.

Get digging, gather rocks and come back when it is full of water, and you suspect there is something missing in those murky depths..
